The Divine Inspirations

A'ishah (the mother of the faithful believers ) said:

"The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allah's Messenger was in the form of righteous vision (good dreams) which would come as true as the breaking of the light of the dawn,

And then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him, He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Mount Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) for many days before his return back to see his family. He used to take with him food for the stay and then come back to khadija (his wife) to take his food likewise again,

Till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The prophet (S.A.W.) replied, "I am not reader."

The Prophet (S.A.W.) added, "The angel embrace me forcefully and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I am not a reader."

Thereupon he embraced me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I am not a reader (or what shall I read)?'

Thereupon he embraced me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, "Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists), has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous."

Then Allah's Messenger returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" She covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened

And said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with you kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones."

Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, who, during the pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah (S.W.T.) wished him to write.

He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allah's Messenger described whatever he had seen.

Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah (S.W.T.) had sent to Prophet Moses (S.A.W.) I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." The Prophet (S.A.W.) asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone who came with something similar to what you have broght was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly."

But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari narrated while talking about the period of pause in revelation reporting the speech of the Prophet (S.A.W.) "While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, 'Wrap me (in blankets).'

And then Allah (S.W.T.) revealed the following Verse (of Qu'ran) : O you (Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments!

Arise and warn (the people against Allah's Punishment). And magnify your Lord. And cleanse your garments. And desert the idols.'

After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."

Some of the gifts Allah (S.W.T.) gave to Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.)

Before the mission of Islam, Prophet (S.A.W.) had so many gifts from Allah (S.W.T.) as a preparation for the prophethood.

1. Allah (S.W.T.) guided him and protected him from the corrupted life style of his people.

Ibn Katheer reported that before the mission of Islam, Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) used to dislike the corrupted life style of his people and not take part in it.
He used to go for seclusion in the cave of Mount Hira according to the traditional old practices the Arabs inherited from the religion of their father Abraham. In his retreat in the cave of Mount Hira he used to worship Allah (S.W.T.) alone and contemplate His creation and signs in the universe.

2. The clouds that used to shade him in hot days.

3. The righteous visions which would always come true.

4. The greeting of trees and stones:

Prophet (S.A.W.) said that before the mission he would pass by no stone or tree but he would hear them saying 'Peace be on you O Messenger of Allah'.
Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "I verily know a stone in Mecca which used to salute me saying 'Peace be on you O Messenger of Allah' before the mission; I verily know it now".

5. Seeing angel Gabriel in his sleep

Shortly before the beginning of the Divine Inspiration Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) saw in his sleep angel Gabriel giving him a book rapped in a piece of silk". And then his vision came true afterward.

Shortly after the mission of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) the heavens were heavily guarded with stern guards and flaming fires in order to make them inaccessible to evil Jjinn as an extra precaution measure to keep Islam, the last message and religion of unity, clear from all mysteries, and falsehoods.

Prophet Musa Part 3

The magicians of Fir'awn were all defeated. The false snakes they produced by their sticks were all swallowed by the serpent of Musa's (S.A.W.) stick. Fir'awn and his magicians could hardly believe and the magicians bowed to the truth and professes their faith in Allah (S.W.T.), Sura Ash-Shu'araa (26:38-51)

So, the magicians were gathered together on an appointed day and time, and the people were asked, "Would you come to the gathering? We may perhaps still follow the magicians' way if they are dominant," When the magicians arrived for the contest, they said to pharaoh, "Shall we have rewards if we win?"

Pharaoh replied: "Of course, and then you will be included among those nearest to me."

Musa (S.A.W.) said: "Cast down what you have to cast down." They forthwith cast down their cords and staffs and said, "By Pharaoh's honour, we shall surely win." Then Musa (S.A.W.) cast down his staff, and lo ! it started devouring up their false devices. At this, all the magician fell down in prostration, and cried out, "We have believed in the Lord of all creation the Lord of Moses and Aaron [Musa (S.A.W.) and Harun (S.A.W.) !"

Pharaoh said: "You have believed in Moses (P.b.u.h.) even before I should have permitted you ! He must be your chief who has taught you magic. Well, you shall soon come to know: I shall have your hands and feet cut off on opposite sides and shall crucify you all."

They replied, "We care not: we shall pass into our Lord's presence, and we expect that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first to believe."

Because of this, Fir'awn became angry and started to torture the Bani Isra'il. It was during this time that Allah (S.W.T.), commanded Musa (S.A.W.) to leave Egypt with his followers, Sura Taha (20:77)

We sent this Revelation to Musa (S.A.W.): "Set forth with My servants during the night and make for them a dry path across the sea. Have no fear of being overtaken nor be afraid (while passing through the sea)."

Musa (S.A.W.) asked his followers to get ready and set out at night to avoid Fir'awn's notice and reached the shore of Nile. They were chased by Fir'awn's soldiers when they almost reache Israelites. At this moment, Allah (S.W.T.) , ordered Musa (S.A.W.) to throw the stick in the water and he did so, the Nile was thendivided into two and appeared a road in the middle ready, allowing the Israelites to cross it Sura Ash-Shu'araa (26:52-66)

We inspired Musa (S.A.W.) with this, "Set off with My servant by night, for you will be pursued." At this,Pharoah sent out heralds to the cities (for mobilization, saying) : "These are but a handful of people, who have provoked us much; and we are always on our guard." Thus did We draw them out from their gardens and their water-springs and their treasure-houses and fine dwellings. This is how they were dealt with, while (on the other hand) We made the Children of Israel inherit all these things.

In the morning these people set out in pursuit of them. When the two hosts came face to face with each other, the companions of Musa (S.A.W.) cried out: "We are overtaken!" Musa (S.A.W.) said: "No, never! With me indeed is my Lord: He will surely guide me." We inspired Musa (S.A.W.) with the Command: "Smite the sea with your staff." The sea parted forthwith and its each part stood like a mighty mountain. And We led to the same place the other host, too. We saved Musa (S.A.W.) and all his companiions, and drowned the others.

Fir'awn and his soldier were following but, when the Israelites reached the other shore, while Fir'awn was still in the middle of Nile, water from both sides suddenly poured in and the road dis-appeared. Fir'awn and his soldiers were drowned there. So this how Allah (S.W.T.), punishes the trangressors and helps His faitful servants.

Prophet Musa Part 2

He stayed there for ten years before moving on to "Tuwa", a valley at the foot of a mountain At-Tur in Sinai. Here, Musa (SAW) was given the divine guidance by Allah (SWT), and was selected as Allah's Messenger. Sura Qasas (28:30)

But when he came to the (Fire), a voice was heard from the right bank of the valley, from a tree in hallowed ground: "O Musa ! Verily I am Allah, the Lord of the worlds....

Allah (SWT), bestowed on Musa (SAW) two signs. A "Stick" which when thrown down would turn into a living serpent and to make his hand shine, after it was drawn out from under his arm Sura Taha (20:17-22) Allah (SWT) said:

"And what is that in thy right hand, O Musa?"

He said, "It is my rod: on it I lean; with it I beat down fodder for my flocks; and in it I find other uses."

Allah (SWT) said, "Throw it, O Musa!

He threw it, and behold! it was a snake, active in motion.

Allah (SWT) said, "Seize it, and fear not: We shall return it at once to its former condition"...

Now draw thy hand close to thy side: It shall come forth white (and shining), without harm (or stain),- as another Sign,

Allah (SWT), commanded Musa (SAW) to go to Fir'awn and invite him to "Tawhid"Sura Taha (20:42-44).

Go, thou and thy brother, with My Signs, and slacken not, either of you, in keeping Me in remembrance.

"Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds; "But speak to him mildly: perchance he may take warning of fear (Allah)"

He begged Allah (SWT), to make his brother Harun (Aaron) his helper and Allah (SWT), granted his prayer Sura Taha (20:24-36)

"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds."

Musa (SAW) said: "O my Lord! expand me my breast; "Ease my task for me; "And remove the impediment from my speech, "So they may understand what I say: "And give me a Minister from my family, "Harun, my brother; "Add to my strength through him, "And make him share my task: "That we may celebrate thy praise without stint, "And remember thee without stint: For thou art He that (ever) regardeth us."

Allah (SWT) said: "Granted is thy prayer, O Musa!"

Musa (SAW) to save the Israelites from the oppression of the Egyptians. Fir'awn refused to let the Israelites go Sura Taha (20:47-54).

"So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are apostles sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: With a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and Peace to all who follow guidance!

"'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn way.'"

When this message was (delivered,) (Pharaoh) said: "Who, then, O Musa, is the Lord of you two?"

He said; "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance."

(Pharaoh) said: "And what was the position of the generations who have passed before?"

Musa (SAW) replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, secure i a writing; My Lord neither errs, nor forgets, "He it is Who has spread as a bed for you, and made paths for you to move about (from place to place); He sent down rain water from the above and produced different kinds of vegetation: eat of these and graze your cattle. Surely there is many a Sign in this for those who possess common sense.

Musa (SAW) showed his signs to impress upon Fir'awn that his message was true. He threw his stick on the ground and it changed into a serpent. Musa (SAW) picked it up and it turned again into a stick. Fir'awn and his followers were amazed to see this. But he thought that Musa (SAW) was a magician and challenged him to face his own magicians who could show even more stunning magic. Sura Ash-Shu'araa (26:23-37)

Pharaoh said: "And what is this Lord of all Creation?'"

Musa (SAW) answered, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if only you care to believe!"

Pharaoh said: To those around him, "Do you hear?"

Musa (SAW) said: "Your Lord as well as Lord of your forefathers who have gone before."

Pharaoh said: (to all those present), "This messenger of yours, who has been sent to you, seems to be utterly mad."

Musa (SAW) said: "(He is) Lord of the east and the west and of all that is between them, if only you people have any common-sense!'"

Pharaoh said: "If you take any one other than me as a deity, I will cast you among those who are rotting in the prisons."

Musa (SAW) said: "Even if I bring forth a convincing thing?"

Pharaoh replied: "Well bring it if you are truthful." (No sooner had he uttered these words than) Musa (SAW) cast down his staff, and suddenly it became a serpent, Then he drew out his hand (from the armpit) and it was shining bright for all the spectators.

Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him, "This fellow is certainly a skilled magician: he wants to drive you out of your land by means of his magic. Now, what is your command?"

They said: "Detain him and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to the cities to summon every skilled magician into your presence."

Prophet Musa Part 1

Prophet Moses (p.b.u.h.), his name was Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) in Islam, the son of Imran was born in Egypt 450 years after Prophet Yusuf [Joseph] (p.b.u.h.). In Egypt, at that time the king were known as Fir'awn [Pharaoh].
The followers of the Prophet Yaqub [Jacob] (p.b.u.h.). father of Prophet Yusuf (p.b.u.h.) are called Bani isra'il [Israelites]. Bani Isra'il had lived in Egypt since the days of Prophet Yusuf (p.b.u.h.). Prophet Yaqub [jacob] was known as "Isra'il"
The Prophet Musa (p.b.u.h.) was born during the critical period. His mother managed to conceal him for 3 months and when she could not manage anymore, she was inspired by Allah to put Musa (SAW) into a specially made box and threw it into the river. Holy Qur'an Sura Taha (20:38-39)
"Behold! We sent to thy mother, by inspiration, The message: :'Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: The river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him'; But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me: and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye.
Maryam, Musa's (SAW) sister was asked to watch the floating box from a distance to avoid suspicion. Sura Qasas (28:11)
And she said to the sister of [Musa (SAW)], "Follow him." So she (the sister) watched him in the character of a stranger, and they knew not.
The box reached the other shore and one of the members of the Fir'awn's family found it. Musa (SAW) was then taken to Fir'awn's wife and she was very glad to have the baby adopted Sura Qasas (28:8-9)
Then the people of Pharaoh picked him up (from the river): (It was intended) that [Musa (SAW)] should be to them an adversary and a cause of sorrow : For Pharaoh and Haman and (all) their hosts were men of sin.
The Wife of Pharaoh said: "(Here is) a joy of the eye, for me and for thee: Slay him not. It may be that he will be of use to us, or we may adopt him as a son." And they perceived not (what they were doing)!

Maryam went to Fir'awn's falace and suggested a nanny to look after the baby and the woman was Musa (SAW) mother. Sura Qasas (28:12)
And we ordained that he refused suck at first, until (his sister came up and) said: "shall I point out to you the people of a house that will nourish and bring him up for you and be sincerely attached to him?"
When he grew up and while he was walking, he came across an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite Musa (SAW) gave the Egyptian a blow that killed him accidentally. Sura Qasas (28:15)
And he entered the City at a time when its people were not watching: and he found there two men fighting, one of his religion, and the other, of his foes. Now the man of his own religion appealed to him against his foes, and Musa (SAW) struck him with his fist and made an end of him. he said: "This is a work of Evil (satan): for he is an enemy that manifestly misleads!"
He left Fir'awn's house and went to Midian. Sura Qasas (28:22-28)
Then, when he turned his face towards (the land of ) Madyan, he said: "I do hope that my Lord will show me the smooth and straight path."
And when he arrived at the watering (place) in madyan, he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks), He said: "What is the matter with you?" They said: "We cannot water (our flocks) until the sheperds take back (their flocks) :and our father is a very old man."
So he watered (their flocks) for them; then he turned back to the shade, and said: " O my Lord ! Truly am I in (desperate) need of any good that thou dost send me !"...
Afterwards one of the (damsels) came (back) to him, walking bashfully. She said: "My father invites thee he may reward thee for having watered (our flocks) for us." So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: "Fear thou not: (well) hast thou escaped from unjust people."
Said one of the (damsels) "O my (dear) father ! engage him on wages: truly the best of men for thee to emply is the (man) who is strong and trusty."..
He said: "I intended to wed one of these my daughters to thee, on condition that thou serve me for eight years; but if thou complete ten years, it will be (grace) from thee. But I intend not to place thee under a difficulty : thou wilt find me, indeed, if Allah wills, one of the righteous."
He said: "Be that (the agreement) between me and thee: whichever of the two terms I fulfill, let there be no ill-will to me: Be Allah a witness to what we say."
